Privacy Policy for Brainify

Overview
Brainify is a Chrome extension that summarizes web pages and generates mind maps using on-device AI. Privacy is a core design principle: your data never leaves your browser.

1. Data We Do NOT Collect

Brainify does not collect, transmit, store on servers, or share any of the following:

The content of web pages you analyze
Your browsing history or habits
Personal identification information
IP addresses or device identifiers
Usage analytics or telemetry
Cookies or session data
2. On-Device Processing

All AI analysis is performed locally on your device using Gemini Nano — Chrome's built-in on-device language model. Page text is processed entirely within your browser and is never sent to Anthropic, Google, OpenAI, or any other external server or third party.

3. Data Stored Locally

Brainify stores the following data exclusively on your device using chrome.storage.local:

Subscription/feature status	Track unlocked features
This data is stored only on your device, is never transmitted anywhere, and can be cleared at any time by removing the extension.

4. Permissions Explained

Permission	Why it's needed
activeTab	Read page text when you click Summarize — only on demand
scripting	Inject text-extraction script into the active tab
storage	Save preferences locally on your device
sidePanel	Display the extension UI in Chrome's side panel
host_permissions	Allow text extraction from any site you choose to analyze
None of these permissions are used to collect or transmit data externally.

5. Third-Party Services

Brainify does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. No data is shared with any third party for any purpose.

The extension uses Chrome's built-in Prompt API and Summarizer API (Gemini Nano), which operate entirely on-device. Refer to Google's Chrome Privacy Policy for information about Chrome's own data practices.

6. Children's Privacy

Brainify does not knowingly collect any data from children under 13. The extension does not collect personal data from any users regardless of age.

7. Changes to This Policy

If this Privacy Policy changes, the updated version will be published at the same URL with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
